We're on our way!

After working like crazy for the past few weeks to get the summer house in rentable condition, and one frantic day of packing, we are on the road. And we actually left on the day we had planned. I really didn't think it was possible.

A huge weather front was headed straight for us which brought threats of heavy wind and rain and possibly even tornadoes. Our little fiberglass rig wouldn't stand a chance in a heavy gust of wind. Amazingly, by the time we met the storm front it had weakened a bit and folded over behind itself creating this little channel of relatively calm and not too rainy weather that we just sailed on through.

A few weeks ago Bill bought us a membership for the Boston museum of science. We can use that membership to go to museums all across the country. Is the perfect way to break up the day for Mabel and Stella. We went to the Discovery Space museum in State College, PA today. I was a small museum with some fun little exhibits. Our favorites were the beaver dam that we could crawl into and watch little beaver movies. There were also some stuffed beaver taxidermy that we could touch. We also learned to build an archway out of foam bricks and discovered while on our way out of town that the State College is full of buildings with stone archways. We also met a box turtle there whose name is Mabel and her favorite food is strawberries. I kid you not.

We're spending our nights sleeping in Walmart parking lots. They are open 24 hours and welcome campers in the outer edges of their lots. The bathrooms are usually clean and they sell just about anything a band of traveling nomads could ever want or need.
