The Homestretch Before the Homestretch

Drove most of the way from Flagstaff to St. George last night and finished it early this morning. The drive was beautiful and we only ran out of gas once. And although we were in the middle of the Kaibab national forest at 7000 feet and the whole forest was shut down due to record forest fires we did have bikes strapped to the back of the RV. Justin and I rode bikes back to a gas station we saw a few miles back (doh!) and luckily they had pay at the pump 24 hours even though they were closed. It was actually a beautiful ride, it was a cool clear night with just a sliver of moon. We borrowed a gas can and were back on the road within an hour.

Another highlight of the ride was Najavo Bridge over the Colorado River at Marble Canyon. The bridge for cars is fairly new and the they left the old bridge open for foot traffic. We spent a lot of time staring 467 feet down at the water and banks with my big binoculars.
