Flagstaff, AZ

We awoke in mountains of New Mexico this morning kinda chilly. That was a good thing. The spot we stopped at was deserted so Maggie was able to run around and sniff freely for a spell. After some grub we headed into Arizona for a long drive to Mesa. It was gorgeous and tiring with lots of mountains and valleys and canyons. We ran the AC all day and didn't really notice the temperature go up as we dropped into Phoenix valley and saw a bank thermometer show 110 degrees. After that we would periodically feel the RV windows to remind us how hot it was outside.

When we got to Mesa we visited with Lisa's bff from high school. She's married with six great kids. A few of them were so interested in the RV that they begged to go for a ride so we drove down the the local gas station for some slushies. We left them and the 113 degrees behind and drove north towards Flagstaff. A significant moment in the trip, no more westbound. It's much cooler up here in the mountains. 80 in the RV now as she sits in the Flagstaff Walmart. We're gonna give Luke and Jen a call tomorrow to see if they'd like to grab some lunch or something.

i've been following along, looking at the map, and i just wanted to comment on the discipline it must take to go so far, be so close, and not take the truckster to vegas.

We hope you enjoyed seeing Flagstaff, the coolness (after Phoenix, especially) and the flavor. If you head up to Montana, I hear many books advise to watch out for grizzlies (smile). WE had a blast with you all--
