Arrived at Olympic National Park this morning and found a campsite. After a hearty breakfast we took a hike up to Lake Angeles. It is supposed to be 3.7 miles to the lake but it felt much longer. It could have been that it was uphill the entire way, or, if the sign is to believed it is more like 5 miles. It took us 3.5 hours to go 3.7 miles up and about 1.5 hours to walk the 3.7 miles down. At the top we found a beautiful mountain lake. Clear, deep and filled with dead trees at one end.
We stood on a rock above the lake and Lisa said she would jump in if the girls jumped in. They called her bluff and Mabel jumped first.
The way back was much faster but just as tough on the older folks. Ugh. Fun though, and we will sleep well tonight.
