Gilbert Children's museum - Salem, OR

Afternoon visit to the A.C. Gilbert House Children's Museum in Salem, OR.  The city of Salem purchased this and othe Victorian homes on the Willamette riverfront as part of a bigger reclamation project and built this children's museum.  Kids can freely explore the many rooms in connected Victorian mansions and play on the huge backyard playscape.  Not a bad way to spend some time after too many hours in the car.

A.C. Gilbert is an interesting guy.  Held the pole vault world record in 1909, invented the erector set and made lots of other toys.  Died with 150 patents to his name.
