Punta Arenas

We took an early bus ride from Puerto Natales to Punto Arenas.  Punta Arenas is a city of about 120,000 people and the southern most city in Chile.  Before the Panama Canal it was busy with ships going around Cape Horn.  Since then it's been about exporting sheep and oil.  Downtown has a square and statue dedicated to Magellan and it's a tradition to rub his toe before crossing the Drake Passage for good weather.  Mr. Mars told everyone they must touch it or they don't get on the boat tomorrow.  I don't think he was kidding.  Also went on a city bus tour and walked about a bit.
